Campaigns

As a Disability Sheffield project, our aim is for Disabled people and people with long-term health conditions to have the same freedom and rights to exercise choice and control over their own lives as any other person.

We would like to see Sheffield become more accessible to Disabled cyclists. Aside from a lack of decent cycle lanes, access barriers are often impossible to get through on a tricycle. We are in close contact with Sheffield City Council who are doing their best to improve access to the city’s network of cycle paths.

What we would like to see:

⦁ More awareness that cycling is an option for almost everyone

⦁ Segregated cycle lanes (wherever possible)

⦁ Wider cycle lanes

⦁ Wider access gates (or ideally no access gates!)

⦁ More cycle parking directly in front of shops

⦁ Motability scheme to allow trikes to be included

⦁ If you come across any cycle infrastructure that is inaccessible, please get in touch and let us know and we will feed this back to the council
