Volunteering

Would you like to help out?

All our sessions are run by a qualified, paid member of staff, however Sheffield Cycling 4 All rely on the support of a range of volunteers to help deliver the sessions.

Our volunteers help with all aspects of the project, but primarily help out at our sessions to make sure they are friendly, social and safe.

We try to make the sessions as social as possible for volunteers as well as for the participants.

We are looking for people to be cycling session volunteers

You will play a key role in the smooth running of our inclusive cycling sessions and in helping participants get the right cycle to suit their particular needs.

Our sessions take place at Hillsborough Park, Sheffield. All our sessions are outdoors. We have a cancellation policy whereby we cancel if the weather makes it unsafe to cycle, but we often work when the weather is bad, eg. when it is drizzling or cold. We buy you lunch and can reimburse travel expenses.

Tasks include:

  • Assisting in preparing cycles for sessions and putting them away
  • Assisting in adjusting cycles for participants; adjusting seat position and/or pedals, and fitting helmets
  • Basic check of cycles and notify session supervisor of any problems with the cycles; for example, pumping up tyres, checking brakes and chains
  • Cycling alongside or with participants
  • Ensuring the ground rules of the sessions are being met
  • Helping with other tasks at the request of the session supervisor
  • Meeting and greeting cyclists
  • Taking payments
  • Writing receipts
